Both Husky squads remain in top-10 in final regular season indoor index; Wildcats #17 in D2...

NEW ORLEANS--
In the final regular season national indoor track and field rating index released Tuesday before the NCAA Division I championships in Boston next weekend, the Washington men's team maintained their number five ranking, while the women's team dropped two spots to number eight.

Because of conference championships contested Monday, including the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation meet in Spokane, the USTFCCCA delayed release of the rankings until all championship meets concluded and results updated to its statistical partners, TFRRS and Athletic.net.

The two most significant marks for the Huskies over the weekend came from Nathan Green (Paul Merca photo) in the 800 meters, and weight thrower Jayden White.

Green ran a school record 1:46.50 in the invitational section of the 800 to put him second on the national descending order list, while White's school record throw of 77-10.25 (23.73m) put him third on the final descending order list entering declarations for the NCAA championship meet next week.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas Tech, Arkansas, Northern Arizona, Florida, and the Huskies.

Other Pac-12 teams in the national top 25 include number 6 USC, and number 17 Stanford.

On the women's side, Washington dropped two spots to number 8.

The best marks of the weekend for the Huskies came from Wilma Nielsen and Marlena Preigh in the 800, Nastassja Campbell in the pole vault, and Beatrice Asomaning in the weight throw.

Nielsen ran 2:02.96, while Preigh ran 2:03.34, which ranks them number 13 and 19 on the D1 descending order list entering declarations for the NCAA championship meet next week.

Campbell improved her standing to number 14 with a clearance of 14-4.5 (4.38m), and Asomaning threw a school record 71-0.5 (21.65m) to move to number 18 on the descending order list.

The top five women's teams are in order: Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Oregon.

Other Pac-12 teams in the top 25 include number 7 USC, and number 12 Stanford.

A final rating index, which includes only qualifiers to next week's NCAA championships will be released by the USTFCCCA on Monday.

DIVISION II

Despite not winning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships last week, the Central Washington women's team is the only team from the state of Washington ranked in the USTFCCCA Division II National Indoor Track & Field rating index, also released Tuesday.

The Wildcats enter next week's NCAA Division II championships in Pittsburg, Kansas ranked number 17.

Their most significant marks last week came in the 60 from E'lexis Hollis in the 60 (7.29), Lauryn Chandler in the 60 hurdles (8.55), and Emy Ntekpere in the triple jump (40-4.25/12.30m).

Hollis is number 3 on the D2 descending order list, while Chandler is number 15, and Ntekpere stands at number 13.

The nation's top five D2 women's teams are in order: Adams State, Minnesota State, Pittsburg State, Grand Valley State, and Azusa Pacific.

Simon Fraser at number 22 is the only other GNAC school ranked in the national top 25.

The NCAA D2 qualifiers will be announced Monday afternoon.

A final D2 rating index, which includes only qualifiers to next week's NCAA championships will be released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday.
