Washington women return to USTFCCCA top ten after Husky Classic performances...

NEW ORLEANS--
Spurred on by strong performances over the weekend by Chloe Foerster (photo courtesy UW Athletics), Amanda Moll, Wilma Nielsen and Kaia Tupu-South, the University of Washington women's track team moved back into the top ten in the latest USTFCCCA Division I Indoor Track & Field Rating Index released Monday.

In the index, the Huskies, who were eleventh last week, moved up to number eight.

Foerster stormed into the fifth spot in the country after she ran 4:28.14 to win the mile at the Husky Classic, breaking Katie Flood's school record set in 2012.

Pole vaulter Amanda Moll, who has had an up-and-down last 13 months after becoming the first American high schooler to break 15 feet last January at the 2023 National Pole Vault Summit as a senior at Olympia's Capital HS, put herself back on the national map by clearing 14-4 (4.37m) to put herself in a tie for 12th on the NCAA D1 descending order list with teammate Nastassja Campbell.

Bradley grad transfer Wilma Nielsen ran 2:02.89 Saturday, a mark which was 2/100ths of a second faster than her time at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston. She stands 12th on the D1 list.

Junior Kaia Tupu-South improved her UW school record in the shot put to 56-4 (17.17m), but only finds herself in a tie for the 16th and final spot on the descending order list.

The nation's top five women's teams are in order: Arkansas, Oregon, Florida, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

Other Pac-12 teams ranked in the national top 25 include number 9 USC, and number 17 Stanford.

The Husky men, who were ranked fifth last week, flip-flopped with Florida and dropped to sixth in the index.

Their top performances came from Jayden White in the weight throw, who opened his season with a throw of 74-5.5 (22.69m) to break his own school record and immediately put himself at number eight on the NCAA D1 descending order list.

The other top mark over the weekend came from pole vaulter Mathis Bresko, who cleared 18-1.25 (5.52m) to put himself in a three-way tie for 11th on the list.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas Tech, Northern Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, and Florida.

Other Pac-12 teams ranked in the national top 25 include number 7 USC, number 15 Stanford, and number 18 Arizona State.

Washington, which sat out several of its middle distance crew at the Husky Classic as well as its top women's pole vaulters, returns to action Friday when they send a small group to Boston for the Terrier DMR Challenge meet.
