Washington men start 2024 outdoor campaign ranked number 13 by USTFCCCA...

NEW ORLEANS--
After being one of the last teams to open their outdoor season last weekend, the Washington men's team begins their 2024 campaign ranked number 13 in week 2 of the USTFCCCA's Division I Track & Field Rating Index released Monday.

Washington is one of three teams in the national top 25 (Texas and Virginia were the other two) that were unranked in last week's index, which marked the first ranking of the outdoor season.

The Huskies were powered by four top-ten marks at last week's Stanford Invitational from Nathan Green (Paul Merca photo) in the 1500; Evan Jenkins in the 10000; Trevontay Smith in the triple jump; and Jonathan Birchman in the 400 hurdles.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, Texas and Auburn.

Pac-12 teams ranked in the national top 25 include number 9 Arizona State; number 11 USC; number 22 Cal; and number 25 Arizona.

The Washington women's team, which was missing several NCAA championship meet competitors last weekend, are just outside the top 25 at 28.

After last week's meets, the women's national top five are in order: LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M, BYU, and Ole Miss.

Pac-12 teams in the national top 25 include number 13 USC, number 16 UCLA, and number 24 Oregon.
