Cougars' Maribel Caicedo finishes second in 100 hurdles in Luzern Tuesday night...


Washington State's Maribel Caicedo (Paul Merca photo) finished a strong second in the women's 100 meter hurdles Tuesday evening at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meeting in Luzern, Switzerland.

Caicedo, running in a field that featured defending Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, got off to a strong start, as did Camacho-Quinn.

Camacho-Quinn took the victory in a meet record 12.41.

Seattle resident Sam Prakel, running in his fourth race in seven days, finished third in the men's 1500 meters in a season best time of 3:34.91.

Former South Carolina standout Anass Essayi of Morocco took the win in a meet record 3:33.92.

Washington grad Luke Houser of the Brooks Beasts, running in his fourth race in ten days, was eleventh in 3:46.83.

Recent UW grad Joe Waskom is one of the headliners of Wednesday's Lappeenranta Motonet GP in Finland, where he's entered in the men's 1500.

Also entered in the meet are the Huskies' Chloe Foerster and Samantha Friborg in the women's 800 meters.
