COLLEGE STATION, Texas--
The Washington women advanced three of their four entries to Eugene in the 1500 on the final day of competition at the NCAA West Regionals Saturday at EB Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.

Big Ten champ Sophie O'Sullivan (UW Athletics photo) kicked things off in heat 1, winning in 4:08.21 in the same fashion that she did two weeks ago, running from the front and controlling the pace, while staying out of traffic.

In the same heat, Claire Yerby missed out on the trip to Eugene, finishing eighth in 4:15.11.

Heat 2, which was substantially faster saw Chloe Foerster finish fourth with an automatic qualifying time of 4:06.74. Fellow Husky Amina Maatoug earned a time qualifier, running 4:10.34 for seventh in the heat.

Rosemary Longisa of Washington State was 10th in the heat 4:17.15.

Washington's Maggie Liebich was second in her heat of the 3000 steeplechase, running 9:53.74 to get her bus ticket from the UW campus to Hayward Field.

In the first heat, Washington State's Caroline Jepkorir was tenth in 10th in 10:26.91, while teammate Nicole Bissell was 13th in 10:56.63. Gonzaga's Jessica Fryderlund finished 11th in heat 3 in 10:25.64.

Washington's Amina Maatoug returned to finish second in the 5000 and earn another spot in the national championships. The Dutch senior ran 15:49.52 to pass BYU's Jenna Hutchins on the last lap.

Julia David-Smith finished third in the second heat in 15:54.92, while teammate Mia Cochran was ninth in 16:08.76.  Willow Collins of Gonzaga, who led early, finished 16th in 16:29.32.

To sum Washington's efforts in College Station, the Huskies will head to Eugene with Amanda and Hana Moll in the pole vault; Sophie O'Sullivan and Chloe Foerster in the 1500; Maggie Liebich in the steeplechase; Julia David-Smith in the 5000; and Amina Maatoug doubling in the 1500 and 5000.

KERR AND ALLEN PLACE FIFTH ON DAY 1 OF PHILLY GRAND SLAM TRACK STOP...

In Philadelphia, Josh Kerr finished fifth in the 800 on the first of two days of competition in the third stop of the Grand Slam Track circuit at Franklin Field, running 1:45.80.

Canada's Marco Arop won the race in a season best 1:43.38 to get the 12 points for first place and the advantage going into Sunday's 1500.

Kerr's fifth place finish earned him 4 points, which will cut out his work going into the 1500, as he'll need to finish ahead of both Yared Nuguse and Hobbs Kessler to have a chance at the $100,000 first place overall prize. Nuguse was third in the 800 in 1:45.36, and Kessler was fourth in 1:45.60.

In the men's long hurdles category, Washington State alum CJ Allen finished fifth in the 400 hurdles, running 49.61.

Alison dos Santos of Brazil, who has dominated the long hurdles category in the three meets in the Grand Slam Track circuit, won in 48.11.

Day 2 of Grand Slam Track resumes at 12:30 pm Pacific Sunday, which will be aired on the CW and streamed on Peacock.
