Washington State, Gonzaga & Eastern Washington head to Idaho for Vandal Open...

The 2020 indoor track and field season resumes Friday and Saturday, as athletes from Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, and Washington State heads to Moscow, Idaho for the Lauren McCluskey Multi Events meet and the Vandal Open, hosted by the University of Idaho at the Kibbie Dome.

The men's heptathlon competition gets the meet started on Friday at 10:40 a.m. Pacific time, with the women's pentathlon beginning at 12:15. The women's competition will conclude that day, with the final three events for the men starting on Saturday at 8:55 a.m.

The main portion of the Vandal Open begins at 11 am on Saturday, with the final running events scheduled for 5:55 pm.

All three teams are using the Vandal Open as a rust buster after returning to school from the Christmas break, though the Eagles competed at their own Candy Cane meet in early December, and a small group of Cougars went to the Jackson's Open meet in Nampa, Idaho.

Going into this weekend, Washington State's Emmanuel Wells (above/photo courtesy WSU Athletics) from Rainier Beach HS is tied for first in NCAA Division I in the 60 at 6.66, while Sam Brixey of the Cougs is number 2 in the country in the 60 hurdles at 7.79.

Stephanie Cho of the Cougs, who was an NCAA qualifier in the 400 hurdles in 2018, is ranked fourth in the country at 400 meters, with a mark of 54.69.

The host University of Idaho has not posted any start lists; however the link to the meet time schedule is available here.
