Beasts' Brannon Kidder advances to Monday's 800 meter finals at Trials...

It was a light day of action for athletes with Washington ties as day 2 of the US Olympic Track & Field Trials concluded at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Brannon Kidder (Paul Merca for TrackTown USA photo) of the Seattle based Brooks Beasts moved on to the finals in the 800 meters, as he finished third in his semifinal heat, running 1:46.97, finishing behind 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy (1:46.26) and reigning world champion Donovan Brazier's 1:46.57.

In the same heat, Beasts teammate Drew Windle finished eighth in 1:51.65, as the top three from each of the two semis, plus the two fastest times filled the field for Monday's final at 5:28 pm.

Washington alum Denham Patricelli finished tenth overall in the javelin qualifying, throwing 227-7 (69.37m).

The men's triple jump saw Bremerton native Keshun McGee of Alabama foul out of the competition.

In the women's 1500 semis, Karisa Nelson of the Brooks Beasts finished tenth in her heat, running 4:15.40, while in the other semi, Washington alum Eleanor Fulton was ninth in 4:12.07.

Sunday, Washington State alum Brock Eager throws in the finals of the men's hammer throw at 4:25 pm, while a large contingent of women run in the semis of the 3000 meter steeplechase, including Washington alums Mel Lawrence and Katie Rainsberger; Pasco native Marisa Howard; Washington State alum Caroline Austin; Allie Ostrander of the Brooks Beasts; and, Woodinville native Olivia Markezich of Notre Dame.

Of the six, Lawrence and Howard go into the Trials holding the Olympic Games qualifying standard of 9:30.00.
