WSU's Paul Ryan gets Olympic Trials qualifier Sunday night...

EUGENE--Two days after finishing eighth at the NCAA championships in the 1500, Washington State's Paul Ryan (Paul Merca photo) got the return ticket to Eugene, as he earned his US Olympic Trials qualifier in a last minute meet set up Sunday night at Historic Hayward Field.

The TrackTown Qualifier was set up by the University of Oregon track staff to give a final opportunity to achieve a qualifying standard for the US Olympic Trials, as Sunday night marked the close of the Olympic Trials qualifying period.

Ryan finished second to James West of Oregon & Great Britain, with Ryan running 3:37.04, and West winning in 3:35.59.

Ryan ducked under the US Olympic Trials standard of 3:37.50, while West was short of the Olympic Games standard of 3:35.00.

Tacoma native Jack Yearian, who got the Trials standard on June 3rd at the Stumptown Twilight, served as one of the rabbits in the race.

The complete results of the TrackTown Qualifier is available here.

CULPEPPER ANNOUNCES TRANSFER TO OLE MISS...

University of Washington freshman Cruz Culpepper announced Sunday on his Instagram account that he is transferring to the University of Mississippi.

Culpepper, a native of Colorado, opened his collegiate career by becoming the 11th Husky to break 4 minutes in the mile at the UW Preview on January 30th.

After running 3:41.29 at the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State in March, he appeared in three other outdoor meets for the Huskies, including the Pac-12s.

While Culpepper's 3:41.29 was good enough to be in the top 48 for the NCAA First Round meet at Texas A&M, he was left off the UW roster for the meet.

A post on the letsrun.com message board shortly before the NCAA first round said that Culpepper put his name in the NCAA's transfer portal (posters are allowed to post anonymously, so our policy is not to take it as fact).

Here is Culpepper's post:
