Husky squads stay in USTFCCCA national top-25 heading into Pac-12s...

NEW ORLEANS--Both Washington track and field teams dropped one spot in the latest USTFCCCA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index released Monday.

The Washington women dropped to number 15 from 14, while the men dropped to number 19 in the index, as the teams did not compete last week, with the exception of a few distance runners who ran at the Sound Running Track Meet in San Juan Capistrano, California.

While there were several schools who had athletes at the meet, marks made at that meet did not count towards national rating index points or for moving up or down the NCAA descending order lists, as the meet was deemed not to have enough events to qualify as a bona fide track meet in the eyes of the NCAA track & field sport committee (ten events).

The top-5 women's teams are Texas for a seventh-straight week, followed by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Arkansas.

Pac-12 women's teams ranked in the national top 25 include number 9 Oregon, number 16 Arizona State, number 18 Stanford, number 21 USC, number 24 Cal, and number 25 Colorado.

The top five teams are in order: Texas, Alabama, Florida. LSU and Georgia.

Pac-12 teams in the national top 25 include number 7 Oregon, number 8 USC, number 11 Stanford, number 22 Arizona State, and number 25 Cal.

Washington heads to Eugene for the Pac-12 track & field championships Friday through Sunday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
