In Birmingham, former Pullman resident and reigning Olympic champion Katie Nageotte opens her outdoor campaign, after a slight detour where she caught COVID-19 and had to postpone her opening meet in Puerto Rico.
Nageotte faces a field that includes training partner and world indoor champ Sandi Morris, along with former Olympic champ Katerina Stefanidi of Greece, and Great Britain's Holly Bradshaw, the hometown favorite and Olympic bronze medalist.
Olympic bronze medalist Josh Kerr of the Brooks Beasts races the 1500 meters in his home country against a field that includes George Beamish of New Zealand, Ollie Hoare and Stewart McSweyn of Australia.
Washington alum Gianna Woodruff is entered in the 400 hurdles, as the Olympic finalist faces off against training partner and defending world champion Dalilah Muhammad and Anna Ryzhykova of Ukraine.

In Tucson, Vancouver native Kara Winger (javelin), Washington State alum Brock Eager (hammer), and Spokane native Josh Syrotchen (discus) are all entered in the USATF Throws Festival at Drachman Stadium.
In addition, Washington alum Olivia Gruver and Mountlake Terrace native Chinne Okoronkwo are entered in the women's pole vault at the Throws Festival, as the pole vault and the long jump were added to the meet.
The USATF Throws Festival gets underway at 3 pm, with media partner RunnerSpace.com ($) streaming the meet via the USATF.tv platform.
