WSU alum Brock Eager throws 2022 season best in hammer in Missoula...


MISSOULA, Montana--
Washington State University alum Brock Eager (WSU Athletics photo) threw a season best late Friday on the first day of competition of the two-day Tom Gage Classic at Dornblaser Field on the campus of the University of Montana.

Eager, now competing post-collegiately for the Ironwood Track Club, threw 239-11 (73.13m) to handily win the competition, and surpass his previous season best of 235-3 (71.70m) that he set on April 16th at the USATF Golden Games meet at Mt. SAC.

A small group of athletes from Eastern Washington went over to Missoula to get in a last chance meet before next weekend's Big Sky Championships in Pocatello, Idaho.

Notable marks in the meet included a win in the pole vault by the Eagles' Savannah Schultz at 12-8.75 (3.88m); a second place finish in the hammer by Vernice Keyes of 184-2 (56.13m); and, a tie for first in the men's pole vault between EWU teammates Braydon Freitag and Zach Klobutcher at 16-6 (5.03m).

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, Washington State alum Alissa Brooks-Johnson finished fifth in the USATF Combined Events Championships Saturday in the heptathlon.

Brooks-Johnson, a former Pac-12 champion for the Cougars, scored 5736 points over the course of two days.

After ending Friday's competition in 11th place with 3346 points, Brooks-Johnson started Saturday with a leap of 19-8 (5.99m) in the long jump, then threw the javelin 137-9 (41.98m), before ending the day by running 2:19.08 in the 800.

The University of Florida's Anna Hall won the overall competition with a final score of 6458 points, ending it with the fastest time recorded by an American in the 800 at 2:03.11, a mark that would rank #10 on the current NCAA descending order list.

In McMinnville, Oregon, Seattle Pacific's pole vaulters took three of the top five spots at the Linfield Open Saturday.

Lizzy Daugherty won the event with a third attempt clearance of 12-4 (3.76m), while the Falcons' Charlie Hill and Madison Licari were in a four-way tie for second at 11-0.25 (3.36m).

In Portland, Seattle Pacific's Peace Igbonagwam won the women's 100 meter dash at the Portland Twilight meet at Lewis & Clark Stadium in a final tuneup for next week's Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships in Ellensburg.

Igbonagwam easily won in 12.31.

The Falcons' Isaiah Archer won the men's 400 in a time of 49.17.

UW ALUM ELEANOR FULTON ENTERED IN SEIKO GOLDEN GRAND PRIX SUNDAY...

University of Washington alum Eleanor Fulton is entered in the 1500 meters at Sunday afternoon's (3 pm Tokyo time/11 pm Saturday night in Seattle) Seiko Golden Grand Prix meet at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

The start list for the Seiko Golden Grand Prix meet, which is classified as a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Meeting, is available here.

Flotrack.org ($) will stream the meet starting at 11 pm Saturday night in Seattle.
