Saint Martin's opens its season with a pair of meets in Wyoming & Colorado...

The Saint Martin's track and field team will be the first of the four Washington GNAC schools to start the 2022-23 indoor track and field season with a pair of meets Friday in Laramie, Wyoming, and Saturday in Colorado Springs.

The Saints start their campaign in Laramie at the Hager-LeBar Indoor Track & Field Venue as they compete in the University of Wyoming's Power Meet.

Friday's meet offers an abbreviated schedule featuring the men's & women's weight throw, long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and triple jump on the field, and the 55 hurdles and dashes, 400, 200 and 4 x 400 relay on the track.

The Wyoming meet is a homecoming of sorts for SMU head coach Scott Carter, who competed at Wyoming as a jumper for the Cowboys, finishing his career with a third place finish at the 2017 NCAA outdoor championships in the triple jump.

According to the Wyoming site, the only schools competing besides the host Cowboys are Saint Martin's and South Dakota School of Mines.

Multi-event specialist Andrew Boyd (photo courtesy SMU Athletics), who was third at the GNAC decathlon this past spring, is one of the athletes the team is traveling.

Friday's meet gets underway at 11 am Pacific, and will be streamed on the Wyoming Track & Field team's Facebook page.

Upon the conclusion of the meet, the Saints will head to Colorado Springs for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Pre Holiday meet.

The Pre-Holiday meet features teams from the University of Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Wyoming, Colorado State, Azusa Pacific, CSU-Pueblo, and others from the area.
