UW alum Kieran Lumb finishes tenth in 1500m in Ostrava...

OSTRAVA, Czech Republic--
In a very competitive race, Washington alum Kieran Lumb (photo courtesy On Running) finished tenth Tuesday evening in the men's 1500 meters at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet.

Running against a field of 21 athletes plus two pacers, Lumb finished tenth in a time of 3:36.97.

The Canadian, who finished his University of Washington career at the NCAA indoor championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico in March, held his ground through the course of the race, but couldn't quite get that extra push over the last lap to challenge the front runners.

Lamecha Girma of Ethiopia, who set the world record in the 3000m steeplechase of 7:52.11 on June 9th, dropped down in distance to take the win in a personal best time of 3:33.15.
