Both Washington squads back in USTFCCCA top 10 after strong performances at UW Invite/Mile City...

NEW ORLEANS--
Boosted by performances by four NCAA Division I top ten performances by its vaunted middle distance group, and by pole vaulter Max Manson, the University of Washington men's track and field team rocketed up to number 6 in the USTFCCCA's national track and field rating index released Monday afternoon.

The Washington women's squad, led by number one performances in the 800 by Carley Thomas and Hana Moll in the pole vault, plus top ten performances in the vault by NCAA scorers Nastassja Campbell and Sara Borton, moved up to eighth in the national track and field rating index.

The Husky men's team was out of the national top 25 heading into last week's UW Invitational/Mile City.

Luke Houser's (#8, Paul Merca photo) UW school record time of 3:51.73 moved him to number 2 on the NCAA descending order list (Nico Young of Northern Arizona's time of 3:57.33 set on January 19th in Flagstaff was adjusted down to 3:48.71 as it was run at altitude).

Joe Waskom's time of 3:53.64, Nathan Green's 3:53.74, and Ronan McMahon-Staggs' 3:54.61 are currently fourth, fifth, and tenth on the NCAA descending order list.

Max Manson's personal best vault of 18-1.25 (5.52m) put him seventh on the NCAA descending order list.

The nation's top five men's teams are, in order: Texas Tech, Northern Arizona, Florida, Arkansas, and USC.

Stanford at number 25 is the only other Pac-12 team in the national top 25.

Carley Thomas' indoor school record time at 800 meters of 2:00.95 and Hana Moll's (Paul Merca photo) pole vault clearance of 15-2.75 (4.64m) currently lead NCAA Division I performers so far this season.

Fellow vaulters Nastassja Campbell and Sara Borton's marks of 14-3.25 (4.35m) at last Saturday's UW Invitational/Mile City put the duo in a tie for ninth on the NCAA D1 descending order list.

The nation's top five women's teams after last weekend's performances are in order: Arkansas, Florida, Oregon, USC, and Illinois.

Stanford at number 19 is the only other Pac-12 team in the national top 25.

In New York at the Norbert Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge at the Armory, Washington State alum Paul Ryan finished sixth in the men's invitational mile Saturday.

Ryan ran 3:57.60, as Adam Fogg of Under Armour Mission Run Baltimore took the win in 3:53.55.
