Olympic Trials resume Thursday at Hayward Field after a two day break...

EUGENE--
Action resumes Thursday after two rest days at the United States Olympic Track & Field Trials at Eugene's Hayward Field with a large number of athletes with Washington ties set to begin competition.

Action gets underway at 4:30 pm with the first round of the men's 800, with Isaiah Harris (Paul Merca photo) and Brandon Miller of the Brooks Beasts, Washington alums Cass Elliott and Sam Ellis, and Seattle resident Derek Holdsworth toeing the line.

Just over 40 minutes later, current Husky Chloe Foerster, Washington alums Anna Gibson and Eleanor Fulton, along with Allie Buchalski and Teagan Schein-Becker of the Brooks Beasts compete in the first round of the women's 1500.

Buchalski was sixth in the 5000m final Tuesday in 15:12.87, while Schein-Becker was eighth in the first round of the 800 Friday in 2:04.54.

An hour later, Washington State alum Kiana Davis lines up for qualifying in the women's long jump, while fellow Cougs CJ Allen and Jared McAlvey, along with recent UW grad Jonathan Birchman race in the first round of the 400 hurdles.

Spokane native Josh Syrotchen, a graduate of Lewis & Clark HS, throws in the qualifying round of the men's discus at 6:45 pm.

In the one final contested Thursday, Woodinville native Olivia Markezich, former Seattle Pacific All-American Kaylee Mitchell, Pasco native Marisa Howard, along with Seattle resident Allie Ostrander and Washington grad Kayley DeLay of the Brooks Beasts are in the women's steeplechase at 7:18 pm.

Markezich, Mitchell and Howard all have the Olympic standard as do five other women in the field, so there will be very little second guessing on who is on the team to Paris.

With the absence of 2017 world champion and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Emma Coburn due to injury, there appears to be no clearcut favorite in the field.

To close Thursday out, Seattle resident Sam Prakel, who did not make the final in the 1500, and Kirkland native Dillon Maggard of the Brooks Beasts, who dropped out of the men's 10000 at 6400 meters, are both in the first round of the men's 5000 at 8:03 pm.

Peacock ($) will stream the meet from 4:15 pm to 8:30 pm. NBC (KING 5 in Seattle) will show action from 5 to 6 pm, while USA Network picks up coverage from 6 to 8 pm Pacific.

As always, check local listings and your cable/satellite provider for the time in your area.

Waskom formally announced his signing with adidas Tuesday in a post on Instagram,

Roe, who wore the Oklahoma State uniform in Friday's women's 5000m semifinal, ran in the finals wearing the Puma Elite Running kit.
