PRO NOTES: Woodinville native Olivia Markezich joins Boulder based On Athletics Club...

Woodinville native and recent Notre Dame graduate Olivia Markezich (photo courtesy On) will make her professional debut as a member of the Boulder based On Athletics Club a week from Monday in the first round of the women's steeplechase at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene.

Markezich, who previously held a name, image & likeness deal with the Swiss athletic company, makes the leap to the On Athletics Club, which is coached by three-time US Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein, and former Husky director of operations and University of Utah assistant coach Kelsey Quinn.

Markezich, who attended high school at Bear Creek HS in Redmond, was the 2023 NCAA steeple champ and fourth at the 2023 USA Championships. A ten-time NCAA D1 All-American, she focused on the middle and long distances and broke her own school record in December 2023, running the 3000m distance in 8:40.42, the second-fastest performer in NCAA history.

Markezich joins Stanford grad Ky Robinson and Harvard's Maia Ramsden as the newest members of the Boulder-based team.

Ritzenhein said in a news release from the company, "We’re looking forward to working with them to continue to unlock their potential and help them as they navigate this transition. The team is super excited to have some fresh faces on board and has welcomed them with open arms as they begin their journey with the On Athletics Club.”

In a related move, On announced on its Instagram story that Washington alum Carley Thomas (photo courtesy On) will join the On Athletics Club Oceania team in Australia, coached by Olympian Craig Mottram.

Thomas, who recently signed with the Tennessee based Total Sports Athletics agency for representation, expands the NIL agreement she signed with On in November before the Australian summer season in December.

The Australian ran an outdoor season best of 2:01.93 in Nice, France on Saturday.
