In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Washington State alum Paul Ryan (photo courtesy Golden Coast TC/adidas) won the 1500 at the Music City Track Carnival at Dean Hayes Track on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University Saturday.

Ryan ran a season best 3:37.98 to take the win over Davis Love, who ran 3:38.40, and Simon Fraser alum Cameron Proceviat, who ran 3:38.75.

Two days earlier, Ryan was tenth in the pro section of the Hoka Festival of Miles race in St. Louis, where he ran 3:58.45.

Ryan's time Saturday left him under a second short of the automatic qualifying standard for the US Olympic Trials of 3:37.00.

In the women's 1500, Washington alum Eleanor Fulton, who missed the 2023 outdoor season due to injury, finished sixth in a season best 4:10.67, her fastest time since the 2022 season.

Like Ryan, Fulton raced in Thursday's pro section of the Hoka Festival of Miles, finishing fourth in 4:29.02.

Marta Pen Freitas of the Brooks Beasts finished in eighth, running 4:11.26, one spot ahead of teammate Rebecca Mehra, who finished in 4:13.01.

The women's 1500 auto qualifying mark for the US Olympic Trials is 4:06.00, or 4:25.00 for the mile.

In Rathdrum, Idaho, Washington State alum Brock Eager finished second in the men's hammer on day two of the Iron Wood Classic throws meet at the Iron Wood Throwers Center 30 minutes east of Spokane.

Eager, who did not get a mark in Thursday's competition, threw a best of 245-6 (74.83m), as UCLA alum Justin Stafford won with a best of 249-0 (75.90m).

The highlight of day 2 came in the women's javelin, as Texas A&M alum Maggie Malone-Hardin threw 213-3 (65.00m), the third longest throw in the world so far this season.
