Washington grad Luke Houser emerges with Atlanta Track Club Elite...
ATLANTA--In a post on the team's Instagram page, the Atlanta Track Club Elite announced Thursday that University of Washington graduate Luke Houser (Paul Merca photo), the two-time NCAA champion in the mile indoors, has signed with the team.
Houser repeated as NCAA indoor mile champion last year in Boston, after initially winning the crown at the 2023 championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Last spring, Houser finished third in the Pac-12 1500, and fifth in the 800. He finished 12th in the finals of the 1500 at the NCAA outdoor championships.
He signed with the Brooks Beasts before the start of the US Olympic Trials, where he advanced to the semifinals of the 1500. The Woodinville HS alum then went on a short European tour, competing in three races in Ireland, along with races in Switzerland and Belgium.
Under some head scratching circumstances, his contract was terminated by Brooks, the reasons of which remain unknown, other than the fact that a Brooks spokesperson sent the publication a text on October 14th stating, "Luke Houser was released due to a code of conduct violation with the team and will no longer be a member of the Brooks Beasts nor a Brooks-sponsored athlete."
Houser will be coached by Tom Nohilly, the 1989 NCAA steeplechase champion at Florida, and a two time USA world championships team member in that event.
Houser will also reunite with Husky teammate Aidan Ryan, who joined the Atlanta Track Club last year.
Luke, who is represented by Ray Flynn of Flynn Sports, opens his 2025 season Saturday at the Dr. Sander Scorcher in New York at the Armory, where he will run in the pro-elite section of the men's mile.
