Josh Kerr signs extension with Brooks and Brooks Beasts...
SEATTLE--Seattle based Brooks Running announced that reigning world champion at 1500 meters and Paris Olympic silver medalist Josh Kerr (seated/photo courtesy Brooks Running) has signed an extension with the company and the Seattle based Brooks Beasts.
The extension will reportedly take Kerr to the 2034 season, which will cover Kerr through both the Los Angeles and Brisbane Olympics, and the 2033 World Athletics Championships.
Kerr has been with Brooks and its Seattle-based Beasts Track Club since 2018, following a successful collegiate career with the University of New Mexico that included three NCAA championship titles.
Under coach Danny Mackey, Kerr has since added both indoor and outdoor World Championship titles in the 3000m and 1500m respectively and secured a new record at the 5th Ave Mile, in addition to securing bronze at his first Olympics appearance in Tokyo 2020 and silver this summer at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The new contract will provide Kerr with the platform to connect with Brooks’ running community through run clubs, donations to youth organizations, key event appearances, and mentorship with the next generation of runners looking to follow in his footsteps at all levels of the sport.
In a statement released by the company, Kerr said, “I’m excited to announce my commitment to an expanded, long-term deal with this incredible brand. Working alongside such a talented team of coaches and athletes has not only helped me become the athlete I’ve always aspired to be but also allowed us to create the best gear to elevate performance. I’m pumped for the journey ahead and the continued success we’ll achieve together!”
In a related move, the Beasts also added Puerto Rico's John Rivera to the roster.
Rivera said, "I’m beyond excited to join the Brooks Beasts, a team I truly believe is among the best in the world. Training alongside athletes who share the same drive for global success and elite performance is incredibly motivating, and I know we’ll push each other to new heights."
Beasts head coach Danny Mackey said, “John is a fantastic addition to the Beasts. He embodies exactly what we are looking for on the team; someone who has the experience and tools to be world class and the personality to make the Beasts stronger as a team. I know John will have an upward trajectory with our team, and I’m excited to work with him to see just how high we can go.”
The company also signed American Olympians Emily Infeld and Aliphine Tuliamuk. Infeld was on the 2016 Olympic team in the 10000, while Tuliamuk competed in the marathon at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
