Stuff we missed over the weekend...
In Auckland, New Zealand, former Washington Husky Sam Tanner (photo courtesy Daikin Night of 5s) won the top section of the men's race at the Night of 5s 5000 meter race.
Tanner ran 13:36.40 to comfortably take the race, with teen sensation Sam Ruthe second in 13:40.48.
In our coverage of Sunday's Marathon Project, we completely missed Spokane native Nick Hauger's fifth place finish.
Hauger, a former University of Portland standout, has transitioned to the roads over the last several seasons, with his last listed track race coming in 2021.
Hauger finished fifth at The Marathon Project, running a personal best 2:10:18, which is the number 16 time this season among Americans.
This is his second personal best at the marathon distance this season. Hauger, who attended high school at Shadle Park in Spokane, ran 2:11:48 for a 15th place finish in September at the Berlin Marathon.
Finally, British Athletics announced on Friday that Washington alum India Weir has been selected to run in the mixed relay (4 x 2k) at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida next month.
Weir joins alum Brian Fay (Ireland) and current Husky Chloe Thomas (Canada) in Florida at the world championships.
NOTE: Athletics New Zealand, The Marathon Project, and British Athletics contributed to this report.
