NEW ORLEANS—Both the Seattle Pacific and Western Washington women’s cross country teams maintained their national rankings in the latest USTFCCCA Division II national rankings released Wednesday.

The Falcons remain at number 12 in the national rankings, while the Western Washington women are ranked number 14.

The country’s top five women’s teams in Division II are Adams State, Western State, Grand Valley State, U-Mary, and Augustana (South Dakota).

Teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference that are also ranked include number 8 Alaska Anchorage, and number 10 Simon Fraser.

On the men’s side, Western Washington remains at number 19 after briefly being knocked out of the national top 25 until an eighth place finish at the Division II Conference Crossover meet two weeks ago in Romeoville, Illinois put them back in the top 25 when last week’s poll was released.

The nation’s top five men’s teams are Adams State, Grand Valley State, Colorado Mines, Chico State, and Western State.

Men’s squads from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference who are ranked nationally include number 8 Simon Fraser, and number 25 Western Oregon.

Most of the teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference will compete at Saturday’s Western Washington University Cross Country Classic, which will be contested on a brand new, spectator friendly course at the Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham after a long stay at Lake Padden State Park.

The meet gets underway at 10 am with the men’s 10k, followed by the women’s 6k at 11 am.

Teams from the GNAC scheduled to appear include the University of Alaska, Simon Fraser, Central Washington, Saint Martin’s, Alaska Anchorage, Seattle Pacific, and host Western Washington.
