Seattle University's Siobhan Rubio sets facility record in winning 800m at Portland Indoor II...
PORTLAND--Seattle University senior Siobhan Rubio (above/photo courtesy Seattle University Athletics) set a new facility record in the women's 800 to highlight competition by the Redhawks at the Portland Indoor II meet at the Chiles Center on the campus of the University of Portland Sunday.
Rubio won the race in a time of 2:17.86.
Western Washington's Edward Kiolbasa also went under the old Chiles Center facility record of 8:34.74 in the men's 3000, running 8:27.29, but finished second to Gilbert Grundy of the Jacuzzi Boys, who won in 8:26.15.
Seattle Pacific's Kate Lilly also dipped under the old Chiles Center facility record in the mile of 5:07.90, but finished third in 5:02.66, as Dana Klein won in 4:47.61.
Western Washington's Jane Barr was fourth behind Lilly in 5:08.11.
In the men's mile, Seattle University's An Pendley-Griffin was third in 4:16.96, and Seattle Pacific's Colby Otero was fourth in 4:17.48, as Christia Raslowsky of Santa Clara won in 4:13.20.
The Redhawks, Falcons and Vikings will have athletes appearing at this Friday and Saturday's Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor.
