Washington women move up two spots in latest USTFCCCA national indoor rating index...
NEW ORLEANS--Thanks to a strong showing at Saturday's UW Invitational by the distance medley relay team of Allie Schadler, Olivia Ribera (left/photo by Paul Merca), Carley Thomas & Katie Rainsberger, along with a school record performance in the weight throw by Angel Nkwonta, the Washington Huskies moved up two spots to number 11 in the latest USTFCCCA indoor track & field rating index released Monday.
The Huskies ran 10:56.23 in Saturday's rerun to close out the UW Invitational, which was the second fastest time in school history.
Meanwhile, Nkwonta set her second school record in two meets when she threw the 20-pound weight 68-3 (20.80m), improving upon the mark of 66-0.25 (20.12m) she set two weeks ago at the UW Indoor Preview.
The country's top five teams in Monday's release are in order: USC, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M.
Other teams in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation that are ranked in the national top 25 include number 7 Stanford, number 9 Oregon, number 14 Colorado, and number 15 BYU.
On the men's side, no teams from the state of Washington are inside the top 25, with the closest being Washington at number 42.
The nation's top five men's squads are in order: Florida State, Texas, LSU, USC and Texas A&M.
Other teams in the MPSF ranked in the national top 25 include number 8 Oregon, number 15 Colorado and number 22 UCLA.
