While the majority of the University of Washington track team will stay home in Seattle for Friday and Saturday's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship meet, a select few athletes are scheduled to travel to Boston for Thursday and Friday's Boston University Last Chance meet.

In addition, several pros from the Seattle area, along with a handful of distance runners from the University of Oregon will compete in Boston as they aim for Olympic standards at Boston University's super-fast 200 meter banked track.

Thursday night, Allie Ostrander of the Brooks Beasts will run the women's invitational 5000 meters where she'll face a field that includes Germany's Konstanze Klosterhalfen, and several members of the Portland based Nike Bowerman TC Elite, including 2015 world championships medalist at 10000m Emily Infeld.

Washington alum Amy-Eloise Neale is also entered in the race.

In the men's invitational 1500, Brannon Kidder, David Ribich and Drew Windle of the Beasts are entered, as is UW volunteer coach Sam Prakel and Husky freshman Sam Tanner.

Friday, Husky freshman Carley Thomas and Olympia native Brooke Feldmeier are entered in the women's 800, where they'll face Oregon alum Jessica Hull, Canadian world championships medalist Melissa Bishop, and one of the top Americans in Ce'Aira Brown.

Marta Pen Freitas and Karisa Nelson of the Beasts are entered in the women's invitational 1500, as are Washington alum Katie Mackey and current Husky Katie Rainsberger.

The Huskies' Allie Schadler and Melany Smart are entered in the women's 3000.

Windle is entered in the men's 800, along with Oregon's James West and Luis Perelta, and the Huskies' Mick Stanovsek.

The men's mile has the Huskies' Sam Ritz, Stanovsek, and Sam Tanner, along with Tacoma native Jack Yearian of Oregon, and WSU redshirt Paul Ryan. The headliner in the race is former UW volunteer coach and defending Olympic 1500m champ Matthew Centrowitz, who is opening the 2020 campaign in Boston.

Washington alum Fred Huxham is entered in the invitational 5000m run.

The entry list for the 2020 Boston University Last Chance meet is available here.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN LATER THIS WEEK

Eastern Washington and Seattle University head to the state of Idaho for their conference championship meets this weekend, with the Eagles traveling to Pocatello for the Big Sky Championships, hosted by Idaho State University, and the Redhawks going to Nampa for the Western Athletic Conference championship.

Action at Holt Arena in Pocatello will begin Thursday, Feb. 27 with the men's heptathlon getting underway at 10 a.m. Pacific time, followed by the women's pentathlon at 10:15 a.m. The conclusion of the men's heptathlon begins on Friday, Feb. 28 (9 a.m.).

The regular portion of the Big Sky Indoor Championships begins Friday, Feb. 28 with finals in six field events starting at 12:30 p.m. Pacific time, with running events starting at 3:30 p.m. Most of Friday's running events will be preliminaries, but the finals of the 5,000 meters and distance medley relays will take place that day.

Entering the conference championships, the Eagles have three conference leaders in triple jumper Keshun McGee, heptathlete Grant Shurtliff, and pole vaulters Samantha Raines and Savannah Schultz.

Eastern Washington's pre meet release is available here.

Seattle University heads to Nampa and the Western Athletic Conference championship meet with a bit of momentum on its side after a strong performance at the UW Last Chance College Elite meet.

800 meter runner Nathan Pixler ran a conference leading time of 1:52.39 last week, while hurdler Michelle Newblom ran 8.86 in the 60 hurdles.

For their efforts last week, both were named as the conference's men's and women's track athletes of the week.

One mark we overlooked from this season was that of Larry Still of Utah Valley, who cleared 18 feet on February 7th at the Air Force Academy Team Challenge meet.

If the name sounds familiar, it's because the Richland HS alum competed the last three seasons at Eastern Washington before transferring for his senior year at Utah Valley.

The TFRRS marks from the WAC conference are available here.
