The Podium announces its 2021-22 indoor track & field schedule...

SPOKANE--
The Spokane Sports Commission announced its 2021-22 indoor track and field lineup, which includes the 2022 Toyota USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be contested at the newly built Podium (photo courtesy Spokane Sports Commission) in downtown Spokane.

The 2021-22 indoor track & field season opens with the Spokane Invitational on December 11th, where event winners will have the chance to be the first to set a facility record on the new 200 meter hydraulic track.

The meet comes three weeks after the NCAA cross country championship meets, so distance runners could potentially have an opportunity to run a race in peak condition before heading to the Christmas and New Year holiday break.

The Commission will partner with Washington State University for the Cougars' two home meets, the Cougar Classic on January 14-15th, and the WSU Open & Invitational on February 4-5th.

The Podium will host the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet for the next three years, beginning on February 21-22nd, while the Toyota USATF Indoor Track & Field championships on February 25-26 closes out the Podium's 2021-22 indoor season.

In a news release, Eric Sawyer, Spokane Sports president and CEO said, “Visiting athletes and spectators inject millions of dollars into the Spokane community when they are competing here. With that in mind, we decided to create our own Indoor Track & Field Meets that will be held on an annual basis in Spokane–a move that our hospitality partners certainly appreciate.”
