Olivia Gruver entered in Müller Anniversary Games pole vault Tuesday...


Washington alum Olivia Gruver (Paul Merca photo) competes Tuesday in the pole vault at the Müller Anniversary Games meeting in Gateshead, England, the seventh stop in the Wanda Diamond League series.

Gruver goes against 2016 Olympic silver medalist Sandi Morris, who got the final US Olympic team spot in the pole vault at the Olympic Trials ahead of the Husky alum.

Also in the field is British Olympian and world championships competitor Holly Bradshaw, and Greece's Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou.

The Wanda Diamond League circuit goes into hiatus until after the Olympics, where it resumes on August 21st at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.

THE WEEKEND THAT WAS (ending July 11)...

A light weekend of action, starting with the European Athletics U23 meet in Tallinn, Estonia, where Washington's Ida Eikeng of Norway ran in two rounds of the 100 meter hurdles, where she finished third in the first round on Friday July 9th, running 13.52.

Later that evening, she finished third in the first of three semifinal heats, running 13.53, and did not advance to Saturday's final.

Eikeng ran on Norway's 4 x 100 meter relay team that finished sixth in their heat in 45.24 on Sunday, the meet's final day.

In Sacramento, Kirkland native Dillon Maggard finished second in the 1500m at the Under Armour Sunset Tour meet at Hughes Stadium, running 3:42.55, as Tim Gorman of the Mammoth TC won in 3:39.13.
