Dawgs finish up North Carolina trip with individual performances at JDL DMR Invite...

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina--
To conclude their trip to compete at the JDL DMR Invitational meet at the JDL Fast Track, the four legs of Washington's distance medley relay team competed in individual events Saturday in an effort to move up the NCAA descending order list.

Carley Thomas, Anna Gibson and Madison Heisterman all raced the women's 800.

Thomas was fifth in 2:07.10. There is a conversion on mid-distance marks as well, due to the track being a 200-meter flat oval, so Thomas' time converts to approximately 2:05.6, just slightly off her season-best. Heisterman and Gibson ran identical times of 2:07.85, which converts to 2:06.40. That's just off Gibson's best, but is a slight indoor PR for Heisterman.

Allie Schadler (Paul Merca photo) had the longest leg last night, running the 1,600-meters, and ran another mile this morning. She was sixth in 4:46.45, which converts down to about 4:43.6.

Washington closes out the home portion of the indoor track season when the Huskies host the Pac-12 Invitational Friday and Saturday February 25-26 at the Dempsey Indoor.

In Spokane, Brigham Young built upon its early lead in both the men's and women's competition at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships at The Podium to sweep the team titles.

On the men's side, BYU secured its third consecutive MPSF indoor title with a final point total of 190 as the conference meet closed on Saturday. The Cougars claimed the conference crown by a 50-point margin over runner-up Long Beach State which totaled 140.

The Cougar women's squad totaled 218 points, over 100 more than the second place-finisher, Long Beach State, to close out its first women’s MPSF championship in school history.

The best mark of the day came from Meghan Hunter of BYU, who won the 800 in 2:04.08, a mark that puts her 14th on the NCAA Division I descending order list.

Adaobi Tabugbo kicked off the day for the Cougars, winning both the 60 meter hurdles and the 60m in a manner of minutes.

Tabugbo’s 8.51 was good for first place in the 60 meter hurdles, and her 7.71 earned her a first-place finish in the 60 meter.

LeNaya Griffin was a double winner for Long Beach State, winning the women's 200 in 24.43, and the 400 in 54.87.
