Snohomish native Amy-Eloise Markovc sets personal best in Staten Island at NB Indoor GP...
STATEN ISLAND, New York--Snohomish native and University of Washington alum Amy-Eloise Markovc (#137/Paul Merca photo) finished fifth in the women's 3000 at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Sunday.
Markovc, a British Olympian at 5000 meters last year, ran a personal best 8:44.15 to eclipse her previous best time of 8:46.43, set when she won the European indoor title last year in Torun, Poland.
The mark puts her tenth on the current world indoor list at that distance, and first on the British national list with a few weeks to go until the British indoor championships at the end of the month in Birmingham.
Canada's Gabriele Debues-Stafford, who runs for the Portland-based Nike Bowerman Track Club won the race in a meet record 8:33.92.
In the men's 60 hurdles, former Renton resident Devon Allen finished third in the race with a time of 7.51, as defending world outdoor champion and Olympic Trials winner Grant Holloway won in a world leading time of 7.37.
