PORTLAND--
University of Washington school record holder and Tokyo Olympian Sam Tanner (Howard Lao photo) won the men's 1500 meters at the Stumptown Twilight meet Friday night at Jesuit High School.

Tanner, who will compete for New Zealand at the World Athletics Outdoor Championships in Eugene, comfortably won in a time of 3:36.93, with Thomas Ratcliffe of the Nike Bowerman TC second in 3:37.93 and David Ribich of the Brooks Beasts third in 3:38.74.

Gonzaga's Yacine Guermali was ninth in 3:43.47, while Washington alum Mick Stanovsek finished in 3:45.16.

Washington alum Eleanor Fulton was second in the women's 800 in 2:02.87.
