WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Harris takes second in Sound Running 800m in Los Angeles...

With five days to go until the start of the World Athletics Outdoor Championships in Eugene, here's a quick rundown of what happened this weekend on the Road to Oregon22:

At the Sound Running Sunset Tour meet in Los Angeles Saturday night, Isaiah Harris (Paul Merca photo) of the Brooks Beasts finished second in the 800 meters, running 1:46.16, as Festus Lagat of Under Armour won in 1:44.81.

Washington State alum Paul Ryan was eighth in 1:48.82.

In East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Vancouver native Kara Winger finished third in the javelin at the American JavFest javelin meet Saturday.

Winger threw a best of 197-1 (60.08m), as Avione Allgood-Whetstone threw a personal best of 203-10 (62.13m) for the win, with Ariana Ince taking second at 203-4 (61.97m).

In Dallas, Washington State alum Alissa Brooks-Johnson finished eleventh in the Thorpe Cup heptathlon dual meet competition against the team from Germany that concluded Sunday.

The former Pac-12 champ and NCAA All American for the Cougars started day 1 on Saturday by running 14.47 in the 100 hurdles, then cleared 5-7.25 (1.71m) in the high jump. She then threw the shot 41-2.25 (12.55m) then ended the day by running 26.25 in the 200.

Sunday, she started in the long jump by leaping 19-1.5 (5.83m), then had her best placing of the meet with a third place finish in the javelin at 140-9 (42.90m) before concluding the meet by running 2:31.47.

Chari Hawkins of the USA won the overall title with a score of 6152 points.
