Both Washington squads hold steady in USTFCCCA pre-championships rating index...
NEW ORLEANS--The Washington men's and women's track and field teams held steady in the pre-championships edition of the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I indoor track & field rating index released Monday.
In the pre-championship meet edition, the rankings are adjusted to account for scratches and adds to the field for the NCAA championships. For example, Washington's Kieran Lumb's (Paul Merca photo) mark in the mile, where he was ranked in the top ten in Division I, was thrown out, since he won't compete in it at this weekend's championship meet, but only in the 3000, where he's ranked ninth entering this weekend.
Washington holds at number 2 behind Arkansas. The other three teams in the national men's top five, are in order: Texas Tech at 3 (+1), Florida at 4 (-1), and Alabama.
USC at 12 (-1), Stanford at 13 (+1), and Arizona State at 25 (+1) are the only other Pac-12 teams in the top 25 heading into the national championships.
There were no changes in the top seven teams in the women's indoor track & field rating index, with the Huskies maintaining their grip on number 7 heading into the championship meet.
Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Oregon, and NC State remain the nation's top five women's teams.
Stanford at 16, and USC at 18 are the only other Pac-12 women's teams ranked in the national top 25.
The USTFCCCA track and field rating index is comprised of marks reported to the TFRRS site. This objective list is compiled solely of current qualifying marks from the 2023 indoor track & field season.
