Viking distance medley relay team finishes seventh at NCAA D2s in Virginia...

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia--
Western Washington's distance medley relay team (photo courtesy WWU Athletics) of  Drew Weber (1200m), Brian Le (400m), Jonah Bloom (800m) and Will Henry (1600m) clocked 9:51.19 to place seventh after entering the meet ranked No. 12 in the nation, grabbing the last available spot for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday.

The same foursome – in a slightly different order – set the program record and No. 7 mark in GNAC history in 9:45.48 at the UW Invite in late January.

WWU was in third position after the third leg of the race and held on for one of the eight podium spots with a strong finish by Henry.

An hour before the distance medley relay, Weber finished sixth in his heat of the 800, running 1:53.06 and did not advance to Saturday's final.

Seattle Pacific's Vanessa Aniteye easily won her heat of the 800, running 2:09.56 to advance to Saturday's final.

In the women's 60, E'Lexis Hollis of Central Washington finished fourth in her heat, running 7.51 and did not advance.

The same fate happened to teammate Lauryn Chandler in the 60 hurdles, as she finished seventh in her heat in 8.74.

Aniteye runs in the finals of the 800 at 2:10 pm Seattle time. The meet will be streamed via NCAA.com.
