WEEKEND RECAP (pt.2) : SPU's Lizzy Daugherty gets NCAA D2 provisional mark in pole vault...


Here's the recap of how Washington's four Division II teams fared over the weekend:

In San Diego, California, Seattle Pacific's Lizzy Daugherty (photo courtesy SPU Athletics) and David Njeri turned in strong performances at the Point Loma Collegiate Invitational Saturday.

Daugherty won the pole vault and got her NCAA D2 provisional qualifier with a clearance of 12-3.25 (3.74m).

Njeri earned a double win in the long and triple jumps, winning the former with a best of 22-7.75 (6.90m), and the latter with a mark of 46-0 (14.02m).

Isaiah Archer won the men's 400 in a personal best 48.68, one day after finishing fourth at the Mangrum Invitational in San Marcos, about 35 miles north of San Diego.

Daugherty was the Falcons' only winner in Friday's Mangrum Invitational, winning the pole vault at 11-3.5 (3.44m).


In Tacoma, Saint Martin's and a small group from Central Washington both competed at the Peyton/Shotwell Invitational on the campus of the University of Puget Sound Saturday.

The Saints picked up seven individual wins on the day, in addition to a victory in the men's 4 x 100 relay, which got the stick around in 43.97.

Gabriela Cintron ran away with the 100m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 15.16.
 
In the men's 110m hurdles, Andrew Boyd won the event with a time of 15.66. Boyd also won the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.2 against his own brother Noah Boyd, who finished second with a time of 1:00.29.

Sarah Neilsen won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 135-1 (41.18m), while Alyssa Duncan won the long jump at 16-8 (5.08m).

Ethan Guidry won the men's javelin with a toss of 174-8 (53.25m). Ryan Doidge won the men's pole vault with a height of 13-5.25 (4.10m) on the first attempt. 

Central Washington's Wyatt Franklin was a double winner on the day, taking both the shot put at 45-10 (13.97m), and the discus at 144-2 (43.95m).


In Vancouver, BC, junior Katie Potts was a double winner in the women's shot put (42-10.75/13.07m and discus (145-3/44.27m) at the two day University of British Columbia Open meet that began Saturday and concluded Sunday.

Saturday, freshman Elie Bassett won the 800m in a personal-best time of 2:17.21.

Sophomore Nolan Mickenham won the men's 100m race in 10.93. Senior Seren Dances also recorded the win in the long jump with a mark of 22-1.5/6.74m. 

Viking alum Calahan Warren won the men's 1500 in 3:50.85, just ahead of current Viking Kevin McDermott's 3:50.91.

In Sunday's conclusion to the UBC Open, Austin Seals won the decathlon with a two day total of 5371 points, while Nicole Avery won the heptathlon with a final score of 3876 points.
