Washington women move up one spot in latest USTFCCCA D1 coaches' poll...

Without racing one step, the University of Washington women's cross country team (Paul Merca photo) moved up one spot in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division I coaches poll released Tuesday.

The Huskies, who moved up to number 4 after winning the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on September 27th, the Dawgs swapped places with then number 3 Notre Dame, who finished third at the Joe Piane Invitational which they hosted last Friday.

The nation's top five teams are in order: Northern Arizona, BYU, the Huskies, Notre Dame and North Carolina State.

Northern Arizona won the Piane Invitational, with BYU second, and Notre Dame third.

BYU moved up three positions from number 5 to number 2, while NC State, which shared the number 1 spot with Northern Arizona, dropped four to number 5.

Gonzaga remains at number 18 in the national poll.

Teams from the Big 10 ranked nationally include number 12 Oregon, number 13 Wisconsin, number 21 Penn State, number 25 Minnesota and number 30 Michigan State. 

The Zags are the only team from the West Coast Conference in the top 30.

Stanford at number 8 is the only other team from the West Region ranked in the to- 30.

In the men's rankings, the Huskies remain at number 13 in the national coaches poll.

The nation's top five teams are in order: Oklahoma State, BYU, Arkansas, Iowa State, and Notre Dame.

Portland is the only team from the WCC ranked in the top 30 at number 25, as Gonzaga is the first team outside the national top 30 receiving votes.

Teams from the Big Ten in the top 30 include number 10 Wisconsin, number 14 Michigan, and number 22 Oregon.

West Region teams in the top 30 include number 9 Stanford and number 24 Cal Baptist.


USATF OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE CONTESTED IN EUGENE AUGUST 2-3...


In a release announcing its television and streaming schedule for the 2025 season, USA Track & Field announced that the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships will be held August 2-3rd at Hayward Field (Paul Merca photo) in Eugene.

For those wondering about the late date, it's because the World Athletics Outdoor Championships will be held in Tokyo September 13-21.


In the same release, the USATF Indoor Championships will be televised February 23rd from Staten Island, New York at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
