Cougar men take home Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor track title...
SPOKANE--Washington State athletes earned five wins and piled up points in other events to win the men's team title at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor track and field championships Saturday at The Podium.
WSU won the team title with 162 points, well ahead of second-place Long Beach State (124), Portland (121) and Cal State Fullerton (105). Cal State Northridge (81) and UC Riverside (42) rounded out the field.
WSU's 102.5 points in the women's team competition was second to champion Oregon State (128.5) and ahead of Long Beach State (100). Hawaii (70.5) and UC Davis (60.5) rounded out the top 5.
Adding to the wins the Cougars got Friday night from Grant Buckmiller in the 200 and Gavin Dimick in the pole vault, they got wins from Mason Lawyer in the 60 dash, Parker Duskin in the 60 hurdles, Eli Lawrence in the triple jump, and Evans Kurui in the 3000, along with a win in the 4 x 400 relay to put an exclamation on the team title.
The Cougs got on the board early with Lawyer winning the 60 in a personal best 6.55, while Parker Duskin won the 60 hurdles in a time of 7.71.
Evans Kurui, who would have won the 5000 Friday night except for an inexplicable misstep when he ran a few steps inside the rail before getting back on the track, thus drawing a disqualification, won the 3000 in 8:07.90.
With the meet well in hand after the 3000, the team of Royal Haley, Grant Buckmiller, Mason Lawyer, and Ethan Willems took the victory in the 4 x 400 in a Podium facility record of 3:07.76.
On the field, Eli Lawrence came through with a sixth round bound of 50-7.25 (15.42m) to win the triple jump.
Washington State picked up wins from Micaela De Mello in the 60 hurdles, crossing the line in 8.00, the third fastest time in NCAA Division I this season. Minutes after winning the hurdles, she returned to the track and finished second in the 60 dash in 7.43
Alaina Stone Boggs won the 3000 in 9:29.14, while freshman Rosemary Longisa won the 800 in 2:10.28.

De Mello scored 18 points in the 60 hurdles and the 60 dash, while Lawyer got 18.5 by winning the 60, finishing third in the 200, and contributing a leg on the Cougars' winning 4 x 400 relay team.
The Cougars will send a select group of athletes to Boston next weekend for a last chance meet.
