Brussels is the site for Friday's Van Damme Memorial Meeting, the penultimate Wanda Diamond League meet of the season, and the final meet to earn points to qualify for the Diamond League finals in Zürich on the 27th-28th.

All four of the USA's world championship team members for the upcoming Tokyo world championships in the women's pole vault are in the field, led by defending world champion and former Pullman resident Katie Moon.

Moon, the current Diamond League women's pole vault leader with 30 points, is the only vaulter in the field who has clinched a spot in next week's finals.

Reigning US champ Sandi Morris is currently second in the Diamond League standings with 28 points.

After competing in their first Diamond League meet last week in the town square in Katowice, Poland, twins Amanda and Hana Moll of the University of Washington step up to the big stage.

They'll face a field that includes Great Britain's Molly Caudery, Italy's Roberta Bruni, Slovenia's Tina Sutej, and fellow Americans Gabriela Leon and Emily Grove.

Washington alum Gianna Woodruff races in the women's 400 hurdles, as she sharpens up for the world championships. Woodruff, who is in sixth place in the Diamond League standings in her event with 18 points, probably needs a top-half finish to clinch a spot in next week's finals.

After no athletes made the world championship standard of 8:15.00 in the men's steeplechase Wednesday night in London, the steeple in Brussels is a race to watch. There are three men in the field who don't have the standard, and if any one of the three goes under 8:15, then Washington alum Aaron Ahl's chances of going to Tokyo are all but gone, pending any scratches.

Currently, 34 spots in the field of 36 for the world championships are occupied by athletes who have the standard, with only one athlete in the field based on world ranking points (there is one spot provisionally reserved for the South American area champion).

Ahl is currently ranked number 37 in the Road to Tokyo standings in the steeplechase.

Flotrack ($) will stream the Van Damme Memorial beginning at 11 am Pacific in the USA.

JEREMIAH NUBBE FINISHES SECOND IN HAMMER AT PAN AM U23 MEET IN PARAGUAY...

Yelm native and Rainier HS grad Jeremiah Nubbe finished second in the men's hammer Wednesday at the Junior Pan American Games meet in Asunción, Paraguay.

Despite fouling his other five throws, winner Tomas Olivera of Argentina made his one fair throw count, throwing 231-8 (70.61m) for the win and a new meet record.
