PRO NOTES: Washington alums Sophie O'Sullivan & Brian Fay race at Seiko Golden GP in Tokyo...
With the conference championship meets taking priority, there was one pro meet that happened over the weekend in Tokyo.
Returning to Japan National Stadium for Sunday's (17 May) Seiko Golden Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Meeting, Washington alum Sophie O'Sullivan (Paul Merca file photo), who ran in Tokyo last year at the world championships for Ireland, finished fifth in the women's 1500.
O'Sullivan, last year's B1G Ten and NCAA champion at this distance, ran a season best 4:18.20 in her second race of the season, as Purity Chepkirui of Kenya won in 4:16.11.
In the men's 3000, Washington alum Brian Fay, who ran the 5000 last year in Tokyo for Ireland, finsihed seventh in a time of 7:45.26.
One spot behind Fay was Gonzaga alum Yacine Guermali, who finished in a time of 7:46.62.
Nagiya Mori of Japan took the win in 7:38.98.
