Zag steeplechasers Logan Law and Paul Talens run strong at Oregon Twilight...

Gonzaga steeplechasers Logan Law and Paul Talens (Paul Merca photo) solidified their positions for the NCAA West Regional meet at the end of the month with strong efforts Friday night at the Oregon Twilight meet at Hayward Field.

Law finished third in 8:43.23, just off his personal best of 8:42.45 set last month at the Stanford Invitational, while Talens was fourth in a personal best 8:47.19, bettering his previous best of 8:48.01, also set at Stanford.

In other events contested Friday night, Rainier Beach and Washington State alum Emmanuel Wells won the men's 100 in his outdoor opener in 10.48.

The top section of the women's 1500 saw former Seattle Pacific All-American Kaylee Mitchell, now running for the Nike Oregon TC, finish seventh in 4:13.89.

Jason Gomez of Club Northwest was second in the open section of the men's 800 in 1:51.06, just ahead of Gonzaga's Hayden Roberts' 1:51.32.

In the top section of the women's 800, SeattleU's Annabelle Clapp was eighth in 2:11.53. In the other section of the women's 800, Kekaihulali Halpern of Saint Martin's was second in her heat in 2:14.05.

Logan Schwartz of Gonzaga was seventh in the Bill McChesney 1500 in 3:41.20.
