Husky women move up in USTFCCCA rating index thanks to strong field events at B1G Tens...
NEW ORLEANS--The Washington women's track team moved up to the highest position they've occupied all season, as the Huskies are now the number 17 team in the country in the latest USTFCCCA Division I Track & Field Rating Index released Tuesday.
After the B1G Ten championships in Lincoln, the Huskies got major points from their pole vault group, led by the Moll twins (UW Athletics photo), who went 1-2, with Hana (in sunglasses) setting a new collegiate record of 15-10 (4.83m) and Amanda, who had struggled through the indoor season, cleared 15 feet for the first time this season, going 15-2.25 (4.63m).
Those are currently the two best marks in the NCAA this season.
Additionally, the Huskies got two top 20 marks at the B1G Tens from Veronica Vacca, who cleared 14-6.5 (4.43m), and from Ashley Schroeder in the javelin, who threw a school record 179-6 (54.72m).
The nation's top five women's teams are in order: Georgia, Florida, BYU, South Carolina, and LSU.
Other B1G Ten teams in the national top 25 include number 7 USC, number 11 Illinois, number 13 Nebraska, number 15 and B1G Ten champ Oregon, and number 23 Minnesota.
The Washington men still remain outside the national top 25 in this week's rating index at number 42.

Other B1G Ten teams in the top 25 include number 9 Nebraska, number 11 USC, number 13 Minnesota, and number 21 Illinois.
DIVISION II
After the adjustments to reflect the athletes actually competing in this weekend's NCAA Division II championships in Emporia, Kansas, the Western Washington men dropped one spot to number 20 in this week's USTFCCCA Division II Track & Field Rating Index.
The top five teams going into the national championships are in order: Pittsburg State, Grand Valley State, Minnesota State, Missouri Southern, and Colorado School of Mines.
Both the Western and Central Washington women's teams remain outside the top 25 after the adjustments, sitting at number 29 and 30, respectively.
Pittsburg State, West Texas A&M, Missouri Southern, Grand Valley State, and Minnesota State are the top five women's teams before the national championships start on Thursday.
HANA MOLL NAMED USTFCCCA D1 WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK AFTER SECOND COLLEGIATE RECORD THIS SEASON...
Washington's Hana Moll improved her outdoor collegiate record at the B1G Ten Championships, vaulting 15-10.25 (4.83m) to add three centimeters to her previous best. Moll cleared the bar on her first attempt, then took three tries at 16-1.75 (4.92m)– a height that would have taken the absolute Moll family record from twin sister Amanda – but missed on each attempt.
This is the second time this season that Hana Moll has been named the D1 National Athlete of the Week. Hana Moll previously earned national weekly honors on April 20.
