NEW ORLEANS—Although idle last weekend, the University of Washington women’s team actually moved up one spot in the latest USTFCCCA Division I national indoor track & field rating index released Monday.

The Dawgs are number 11 in the country, according to the rankings published by the coaches’ organization, which takes into account the best marks from a teams’ top athletes over the course of two indoor seasons.

The country’s top five women’s teams are in order: Arkansas, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, and Florida State.

Other teams from the MPSF besides USC in the top 25 include #6 Oregon, #17 Stanford, #23 BYU, and #25 Colorado.

Washington State checks in at number 106, based on marks from triple jumper Charisma Taylor, and long jumper Kreete Verlin. In the case of Verlin, she has not competed this season so far.

This is the final week that marks from the 2018 season will be factored into the national rankings. In the case of Washington, the Huskies could potentially drop several spots if pole vaulter Olivia Gruver is redshirted.

Gruver has competed as an unattached athlete in both of Washington’s home meets so far this season.

On the men’s side, Washington is outside the national top 30 at 37, while Washington State makes it into the national rating index for the first time this season at #107.

Washington returns to action Friday and Saturday when they host the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor. A preview of the meet will be published in the next few days.

The USTFCCCA Rating Index is available here.
