Bulldogs sweep Clash of the Inland Northwest meet in Cheney...
In Cheney, the Gonzaga men and women’s squads swept the team titles at the annual Clash of the Inland Northwest, hosted by Eastern Washington University Saturday on the practice fields outside the school’s athletic facility.
Gonzaga’s Cullen McEachern (left/photo courtesy Gonzaga Athletics), a redshirt freshman from Kamiak HS, won the men’s 6k in 18:01.
The Zags’ Phillip Fishburn was second at 18:01, while Luke Mason was third (18:02). Andrew Clusserath (18:03) and Dominic Arce (18:04) were sixth and seventh. Ben Hogan placed ninth at 18:04.
Three unattached runners from Gonzaga—Riley Moore (4, 18:02), Myles Bach (5, 18:03), and Kyle Radosevich (8, 18:04) were in the group with the six scoring runners for the Bulldogs.
Isaac Barville was the top Eastern Washington finisher in tenth at 18:09.
The Bulldogs took the men’s team title with a low score of 19 points, while the unattached squad of Gonzaga runners were second with 56 points.
Eastern Washington finished sixth with 127 points.
Emily Phelps led the Zag women to the team title with a fifth place finish at 14:32 over the 4k course.
Brittney Hansen was sixth (14:33) and Paxton Depoe was eighth (14:38). Grace Fahrney placed 11th with a time of 14:45.
Alyssa Bienfang rounded out the Gonzaga scorers with her 13th place finish in 14:49, to give the Bulldogs a low score of 43 points, three better than Montana’s 46.
Eastern Washington was led by Maddie Drennen, who was 19th in 15:02, as the Eagles were fourth overall with 126 points.
Montana's Beatrix Frissell won the 4K race at 14:14.

In Colfax, Josie Brown and Amir Ado were the winners of the WSU Open intrasquad meet Friday night.
Brown took the victory on 14:07, followed by Zorana Grujic in 14:18, and Marie Gaudin in 14:20 over the 4k course.
In the men’s 6k, Amir Ado crossed the line first in 17:52, followed by Justin Janke in 18:00, and Matthew Watkins in third at 18:12.
Washington State hosts the West Region Preview meet on Friday September 13th at the Colfax Golf Club, with teams from SeattleU, Eastern Washington and Gonzaga competing.
The women’s 6k race starts at 5:15pm, with the men’s 8k getting underway 30 minutes later.

ON THE TRACK THIS WEEKEND…
New USA world championships team member Brannon Kidder, along with Brooks Beasts teammates Henry Wynne and Izaic Yorks, are entered in the men’s 1500 meters at the ISTAF meeting Sunday at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
They’ll face a field that includes Josh Thompson of the Nike Bowerman TC, who was third in the 1500 at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships last month; former Olympic medalist Nick Willis of New Zealand, Ferguson Rotich of Kenya, and Ryan Gregson of Australia.

In stuff we missed from earlier this week, Washington alum Mel Lawrence was sixth in the women’s 3000 steeplechase at the Palio Citta Della Quercia meeting in Rovereto, Italy on Tuesday, August 27th.
Lawrence ran 9:42.07, as Luiza Gega of Albania won in 9:26.73.
