Seattle resident Sam Prakel runs season best in 1500m in Göteborg...

University of Washington volunteer coach and Seattle resident Sam Prakel (left/photo by Paul Merca) ran a season best in the men’s 1500 Saturday afternoon at the Folksam Grand Prix meet in Göteborg, Sweden.

Prakel ran 3:37.20 to finish fourth, as Kalle Berglund of Sweden set a new national record and dipped under the Olympic standard of 3:35.00, running 3:34.89, passing Morocco’s Hicham Oueladha in the final straightaway to get the win.

In Falmouth, Massachusetts, David Ribich of the Brooks Beasts finished second in the men’s mile at the Falmouth Track Festival held at Falmouth HS in conjunction with Sunday’s Falmouth Road Race.

Ribich ran 3:59.78, as Josh Thompson of the Bowerman TC took the win in 3:58.39.

In the women’s mile, Washington alum Katie Mackey of the Brooks Beasts was third in 4:31.69, as Cory McGee won in 4:29.51.

Husky alum Eleanor Fulton was fourth behind Mackey in 4:32.39, while Allie Buchalski of the Brooks Beasts was sixth in 4:37.22.
