WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Josh Kerr continues winning ways at final Big Friendly meet...
Josh Kerr of the Brooks Beasts (photo by Paul Merca) continued his winning ways Friday night at the final Big Friendly series meet at Newberg HS in Newberg, Oregon, winning the men's 800 meters on a rainy night.
Kerr, a finalist at last year's world championships in the 1500m for Great Britain, passed teammate and 2018 world indoor championships silver medalist Drew Windle on the backstretch to take the win in 1:48.69, with Windle second in 1:49.63, and fellow Beast Henry Wynne third in 1:49.99.
2016 Olympic 1500m champ Matthew Centrowitz, who has battled injuries in this unusual 2020 season, was fourth in 1:50.62.
Washington alum Eleanor Fulton won the women's 5000 in a persona best 15:40.64, with current Husky Haley Herberg second in a personal best 15:52.25. Allie Buchalski of the Brooks Beasts was third in 15:58.55, and current Husky Shona McCulloch fourth in 16:54.00.
Seattle resident & UW volunteer coach Sam Prakel won the men's 1500 in 3:39.05, while current Husky Dustin Nading was seventh in 3:45.75.
Former Puyallup resident and 2016 Olympian Hassan Mead of the Nike Oregon TC was fourth in the men's 3000, running 8:00.91, as his teammate and fellow Olympian Ben Blankenship won in 7:50.13.
Karisa Nelson of the Brooks Beasts was third in the women's 800, running 2:04.91, while teammate Nia Akins was fourth in 2:06.33. Sadi Henderson of Oiselle won in 2:03.20.

At an undisclosed location in Southern California, Washington alum Amy-Eloise Neale finished ninth in a very competitive 5000 meters Saturday night, running 15:44.93 at the Under Armour Sunset Tour pop-up meet.
Fellow Husky alum Lindsay Flanagan was 14th in 16:09.80, as Lauren Paquette of Hoka Northern Arizona won in 15:10.01.
In the men's 5000, Spokane native Nick Hauger was ninth in 13:56.47, as former Oregon standout Edward Cheserek won in 13:21.78.
