USA Cross Country Championships gets 2022 started...

With the World Cross Country Championships, originally rescheduled from 2020 to February 19, 2022 pushed back another year to February 18, 2023, naturally the field for Saturday's USATF Cross Country Championships at Mission Bay Park in San Diego is considerably diminished.

Eight Olympians will lead competitors to the line for the chance to be crowned as 2022’s first national champions over the 10k course, including Tokyo marathon bronze medalist Molly Seidel and Tokyo teammate Alicia Monson, who was 13th in the 10000.

Olympic steeplechasers Benard Keter and Hillary Bor top the men’s entry list, while 2016 Olympians and former USA cross country champions Leonard Korir and Shadrack Kipchirchir will provide stiff competition.

Reigning women’s champion Natosha Rogers, who won by 22 seconds in 2020, is back to defend her title.

Lake Washington HS grad Dillon Maggard (Paul Merca photo), who qualified for last year's US Olympic trials in both the 1500 and 10000 is the only athlete with Washington ties entered in either the men's or women's open races.

No athletes with Washington ties are entered in the under-20 men's and women's races.

USATF.tv ($) will provide live streaming coverage of the USA Cross Country Championships starting at 9:45am, including the men's and women's masters races, and the U20 championships.

The women's 10k championship race starts at 1:00pm, followed by the men's 10 championship race at 1:50 pm.

The entry list for the USA Cross Country Championships are available here, while the link to live results is available here.
