WORLD CHAMP JOSH KERR OF BROOKS BEASTS HEADLINES FIFTH AVENUE MILE SUNDAY...
World 1500 meter champion Josh Kerr of the Brooks Beasts headlines the field for Sunday's Fifth Avenue Mile on the streets of New York.
He'll face a field that includes his Beasts teammate Henry Wynne, as well as two runners currently training under University of Washington men's head coach Andy Powell, in Johnny Gregorek, and newly minted initial world road mile record holder Sam Prakel.
Great Britain’s Kerr will arrive in New York fresh off winning a world title in the 1500 meters in Budapest; he is in search of his first victory on 5th Avenue in his second appearance in the event. Kerr also owns an Olympic bronze medal in the 1500 meters from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
“Winning the World Championships was the culmination of every step of running I’ve ever taken,” Kerr said. “Now, my confidence is higher than it’s ever been, and I have some unfinished business to take care of on 5th Avenue.”
No women with Washington ties are entered in the pro section of the Fifth Avenue Mile.
In partnership with the host New York Road Runners and USA Track & Field, NBC will broadcast the event nationally from 9:00 to 10:00 am PT. The broadcast will feature live coverage of the professional athlete races as well as a recap of the day’s earlier heats.
