Former Texas A&M NCAA 800m champ Brandon Miller joins Brooks Beasts...

SEATTLE--The Seattle based Brooks Beasts announced that former Texas A&M standout Brandon Miller (Zeth Peterka/Brooks Running photo) has joined the team, and will be coming to Seattle to train and compete with one of the country's top middle distance groups.

Miller was an NCAA scorer for the Aggies as a freshman and sophomore outdoors, and won the NCAA indoor championship at 800 meters in 2022. He also ran a leg on Texas A&M's national championship 4 x 400 relay team indoors.

He also qualified for the 2022 world championships in Eugene when he finished third at the Toyota USATF championships that season.  At the world championships, he finished fifth in his first round heat.

Miller, who has a personal best of 1:44.97 set at the 2021 NCAA championships in Eugene aa a freshman, struggled in 2023 in his first season as a pro, only running a season best 1:45.30 at the Music City Track Carnival in Nashville, TN.

His struggles may have been because of a change in coaches, going from A&M to Bobby Kersee in Los Angeles, who is one of the most successful sprint and hurdles coaches in the world.

Miller joins a group that includes four athletes who ran at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, including Marta Pen Freitas of Portugal, USA 800m runner-up Isaiah Harris, USA women's 800 champ and world championships finalist Nia Akins, and of course, world 1500 meter champion Josh Kerr of Great Britain.

In a statement released by the Beasts, Miller said, "Having an opportunity to join Brooks is such a blessing. I chose the Beasts because throughout the recruiting process they showed me so much love, and it was genuine. Heading into 2024, I want to put my head down and work, enjoy the process, and let God handle the rest!”

Garrett Heath, Brooks sports marketing head, said, “Brandon brings immediate impact to the Brooks Beasts adding tip-of-the-spear talent to our 800m roster along with world championships experience. He also approaches the sport in a fun, inviting way that adds to our brand really nicely. We’re excited to see what he can do with our team!”
