Spokane Sports announces 2023-24 indoor track & field schedule...

Late last week, The Podium in Spokane officially released its 2023-24 indoor track and field schedule, which includes three conference championship meets in February 2024.

In addition to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet on February 19-20 and the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship on February 25-26, The Podium will host the Big Sky Conference championships on February 22-24th, with Eastern Washington as the host school.

This marks the first time that Eastern Washington will host the indoor conference championship meet.

'We are honored to continue building a tradition of excellence for indoor track and field at The Podium and in Spokane," said Anna Alsept, Director of Sports Management at Spokane Sports.

The 2023-24 season begins December 9th with the Spokane Invitational collegiate meet, followed by the Spokane Speed Games community meet a week later.

2024 begins with the Spokane Sports Showcase (formerly the Cougar Classic) on January 12th along with the Spokane Indoor Challenge on the 12th & 13th.

The Spokane High School Invitational moves one week later to January 20-21, and is followed on the 27th by the Inland Northwest Invitational hosted by Whitworth University.

The month of February begins with the Riverfront Invitational and Multis (formerly the WSU Invitational & Multis) on February 1-3, followed by the Whitworth Invitational on the 9th and 10th.

The GNAC on the 19th and 20th begins the first of three championship meets at The Podium, followed by the Big Sky on the 22nd-24th, and the MPSF to close February on the 25-26th.

The Podium's indoor season concludes March 2-3 with the STCU West Coast Indoor Track & Field Championships featuring some of the region's top high school athletes.


BOTH WESTERN WASHINGTON SQUADS STAY INSIDE USTFCCCA D2 TOP 30 COACHES' POLL...

Both Western Washington cross country teams stayed in the USTFCCCA national Division II top 30 in the latest coaches poll released Wednesday.

The Vikings, who were idle last week, dropped to number 11 in the men's national poll, while the women moved up a spot to number 27.

Alaska Anchorage's men's squad moved into a tie for number 30, and are the only men's or women's nationally ranked team from the GNAC besides WWU.

There were some small changes in the men's and women's national top five. On the men's side, the top five teams are in order: Colorado School of Mines, Grand Valley State, Wingate, Adams State, and Colorado Christian.

The women's top five are in order: Grand Valley State, Adams State, Colorado School of Mines, Winona State, and Western Colorado.

Western Washington returns to action this Saturday as they head to Romeoville, Illinois for the Lewis Crossover.
