In San Juan Capistrano, California late Saturday night, Stanford alum Grant Fisher (Paul Merca file photo) led eight men under the 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifying standard of 27:00.00 for 10000 meters, winning The Ten at JSerra High School.
Fisher ran 26:52.04 in the Paris section to outlast Northern Arizona's Nico Young, who set a collegiate record 26:52.72 in the process.
With his seventh place finish, University of Portland alum Woody Kincaid ducked under the Olympic Games standard, running 26:57.57.
Washington alum Brian Fay of Ireland was 22nd in 27:43.45, one spot ahead of Dillon Maggard of the Brooks Beasts, who ran 27:47.60. Washington alum Jack Rowe of Great Britain was 26th in 27:54.55.
In the women's Paris section of The Ten, Tsigie Gebreselama of Ethiopia won the race, ducking under the Olympic standard of 30:40.00, running away in 29:48.34, as three others went under the standard.
Washington alum Amy-Eloise Neale of Great Britain finished 18th in 31:56.01.
In the TrackTown section of The Ten, set up for those looking to get under the US Olympic Trials standard of 27:45.00, American Drew Hunter won in 27:38.87.
Gonzaga alum James Mwaura was 16th in 28:24.18, while British citizen and current Seattle resident Tom Anderson was 21st in 28:42.27.
