EUGENE--
Gonzaga's Tommy O'Neil (Gonzaga Athletics photo) and Samuel Geiger each picked up wins in the men's 1500 and 800 meters Friday evening at the Oregon Twilight meet hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field.

O'Neil, a redshirt freshman from Canby, Oregon, started at the back of the pack, then worked his way into contention at the bell, then used a 57.45 last 400 to take the win over Giuliano Scasso of Oregon, who formerly attended Seattle University, finishing in a time of 3:50.99 to Scasso's 3:51.96.

Geiger, a redshirt sophomore from Camas, stayed patiently near the leaders before finishing in 55.99 to take the win in 1:50.26.

High school sensation Braelyn Baker of Bear Creek HS moved up in distance from her normal 300 hurdles to run the full lap version against collegiate competition, winning in 58.47.

Former Seattle Pacific and Oregon State All-American Kaylee Mitchell won the invitational women's 1500 in a personal best 4:09.45.

In the invitational steeplechase, Gonzaga's Cooper Laird finished second in 8:50.07, after leading for the first five laps of the race.
