Washington women second in 2024-25 USTFCCCA Terry Crawford Program of the Year...
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution’s finish at their respective Championships.
This is the highest finish ever for the Huskies in the Program of the Year rankings, which began in 2008-09.
The UW men also had a top-10 finish, their third in the past four years, as they placed ninth in the John McDonnell Men's Program of the Year final standings.
In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the Championships. Scoring is based on the team’s finish at each Championship in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.
The Huskies finished fourth at NCAA Outdoors and at NCAA Indoors, both easily the highest finishes in program history. In the fall, the women were 13th in cross country. Behind Terry Crawford Program of the Year winner Oregon and Washington was Stanford in third, then No. 4 BYU, and No. 5 Arkansas.
The team's previous high finish in the women's Program of the Year was third in the 2011-12 season.
Arkansas won the men's John McDonnell Program of the Year award, followed by Oklahoma State and BYU. Washington finished ninth. The men missed out in 2023-24, but were third in 2022-23 and seventh in 2021-22.
The men's cross country team was 16th at nationals in the fall, then the Dawgs were 19th at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and 30th at NCAA Outdoors last week.
The women's award is named after former Tennessee, Texas and Cal Poly head coach Terry Crawford, while the men's award is named after Arkansas coaching legend John McDonnell.
